Her jeans rubbed against the raised scabs of the carpet burns on her knees. Subtle tie pin stabs of pain, not so gentle reminders of the wood smoke conversation, bonfire disagreement and iceberg melting consolation from the night before.

    Congratulations to Craig for working in all five prompts in just 39 words. This tiny piece of microfiction speaks worlds about its main character, conveying an awful lot of backstory in a beautifully concise manner.

    So, will you all be writing microfiction next week?

  2. I enjoyed this. I love the economy in this story, it leaves the reader to infer what happened in their imagination. Think my only bit of constructive criticism would be to take the word ‘iceberg’ out; I don’t think you need it!
