The Best Kind of Sunday Afternoons

Prompt courtesy of Velvet Verbosity‘s 100 word challenge.

A drowsy Sunday afternoon limped by. Grey clouds heavy and misshapen as overfilled grocery bags hung low in the sky. Rabbit trailed a finger across the book spines standing on the shelf. She pulled one down, flipped through the yellow pages, feeling the brittle edges.

She stuck her nose in the crease between two pages and took a deep whiff. It smelled of the first day in a cottage after the winter. Shuffling back to the couch, Rabbit burrowed in under a pile blankets and started to read.

The stacks of dishes and piles of laundry could wait until tomorrow.
