Owl and Raccoon – Rogues

Prompt courtesy of BeKindRewrite‘s Inspiration Monday.

An aluminium screen door swung open on creaky hinges and then slammed shut, stuttering in the frame. A clear beam of light swept out from the man’s flashlight, moving from the right to left side of his backyard.

Owl and Raccoon were in the garden, pulling up carrots when they heard the door. They froze as the light moved slowly towards them. Raccoon thawed first. He grabbed Owl and they ran out of the garden, leaping over the low, dense hedge and out of sight.

Old Man Buell cursed them as impish scoundrels, chuckled to himself, and shuffled back inside.

  1. Sweet! I, too, love the “thawed” bit. And I know it’d be a total conflict of tones, and might be horrible, but I’d love to see a crossover with Owl and Racoon AND Dzinski!
