“We could do anything we want,” she said, singing, and spun around on the sidewalk. “We don’t need to be like this, heads bowed, feet shuffling, just another slack face in the crowd, heading to some doom factory. Run away with me.”

“Where will we go?”

“Nevermind. You’re hopeless.”
