“I don’t want you staying up all night playing that game, you hear me?”
Owl sat half a foot away from the TV, concentrating on making the jump over the flying turtle and not falling in the pit. Not this time.
“You have school tomorrow.”
He fell and he didn’t throw the controller. Someone knocked at the front door. Someone in a hurry.
“Fine. There’s some crackers and juice here.”
She closed the door and made her way downstairs. Owl paused the game, walked over and reached out for the door knob, but stopped. He already knew it’d be locked.
