“Where’s the other one? The boss said there was three of them.”
“You said there were all in here.”
“I thought they were. Looked like it from outside.”
Kearns, hunched in the darkest corner of the kitchen listened to the two men in the other room. The windows in the kitchen were boarded up. The only way out was through the front room.
“Check the bedrooms,” one of them said.
Kearns started moving. He got to what was left of the door when they came back in the front room. He rolled out, hoping to hide in the growing dark.
