On The Run – Prologue 4

The take wasn’t in the car, so they’d decided to follow after him and finish up the double cross first. Kearns dragged them a few yards into the forest and drove their car back to the hunting cabin.

Inside, he stepped around his former partners and into the bedroom. Kearns stopped and picked up a revolver. It hadn’t been fired. In the bedroom, He lifted a section of the closet floor and reached down. His fingers finding the leather duffel after a moment of uncertainty.

Kearns drove north, away from the city, hoping to get out of state by morning.
